EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

The Canton Day Care Center, Inc. (CDCC) is accepting applications for a full-time Executive Director. The position will be starting May 1, 2008 or before. The Director is responsible for the daily operations of the CDCC Center with an age range of infant through school-aged children. This includes managing staff, overseeing the childcare programming, parent relations, budgets, record keeping and compliance with NYS regulations. The CDCC Center is committed to build a new facility in collaboration with The United Helpers new advanced care campus that will open in September 2009 and raise our child population from 36 to 113 with a corresponding increase in staff.

The Director will initially supervise 8 full-time and part-time staff, including substitutes, interns and volunteers. The individual selected will work with and report to the board of directors to establish and implement policies and procedures in accordance with NYS licensing standards and the CDCC Center by-laws. The director will also develop child-care programs and schedules and oversee implementation. S/he will create and monitor an annual operations plan for the CDCC Center including staff orientation and training, age appropriate programming, budget review, inventory management and regular reporting to the parents and board of directors.

The successful candidate will possess skills in management, organization of programs, client relations and the oversight of staff. A bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education with at least two years of teaching or childcare experience or equivalent experience as mandated by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services is required. Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills are essential. This individual should possess team leadership, creativity, forward-thinking and have an ability to multi-task.

Bachelor's degree including, or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field

One year full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program

AND

  Child Development Associate Credential with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree
